Uma iniciativa de programação e curadoria cultural destinada a jovens, que se realizou na Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian entre janeiro e julho de 2020. Foi um projeto longo que entrou como muitos outros pela pandemia a dentro. E como tal, tivemos de ser “imaginativos” na forma como iríamos não só apresentar o projeto mas, no meu caso, em como iria realizar este vídeo sem que pudéssemos sair de casa. Tive um dia, antes da pandemia, a captar imenso material e outro, em Agosto de 2020, em que captei as entrevistas com as devidas distâncias de segurança! – O Projeto pode ser visto aqui.
Mais uma vez entro nestes projetos de uma forma muito simples e documental, câmara, gimbal, microfones e headphones. O desafio era simples, fazer um vídeo de 10minutos sobre o tema em questão. Mal sabíamos que iríamos enfrentar uma pandemia e que isso iria obrigar a uma ginástica extra para completar o vídeo. Tento ser o mais discreto possível para não interferir no processo. Estar atento ao que é falado e ao que acontece é crucial para conseguir contar uma história. Talvez por já ter trabalhado com a Fundação, havia uma confiança no meu trabalho, então deixaram o processo criativo do meu lado. O que me deixa bastante motivado para sair e captar. Numa fase inicial, ainda caído de pára-quedas no projeto, a Susana, a Andreia e a Ursula, juntamente com a Francisca, ajudaram-me imenso com as entrevistas e a criar um possível guião que serviria de esqueleto para o vídeo que ainda estava na minha cabeça. Claro, sem ninguém o prever, a pandemia fez-nos mudar radicalmente o projeto e também o vídeo. Aproveitámos o melhor da tecnologia e conseguiu-se fazer uma programação totalmente online através das plataformas de Zoom. Foi muito bom e desafiante criar conteúdo desta forma. Rapidamente percebi que precisaria de captar o maior número de entrevistas, com a agravante de que teria de ter todas as precauções no que diz respeito a distâncias. No caso, o maior desafio foi o de captar áudio sem o uso de microfones de lapelas. Para tal, contei com a ajuda do Bruno Olivera a filmar e a assistir-me na captação das mesmas. A time-line do projeto ficou enorme, talvez das mais complexas que tive até ao momento. A música ficou a cargo do talentoso Fernando Frias, músico incrível cujo trabalho deviam conhecer, que produziu a sound track do vídeo. E ainda contei com a Adelaide Richardson que fez um trabalho excelente a traduzir todo este trabalho para inglês.
A cultural curating and programming initiative aimed at young people, which took place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between January and July 2020. It was a long project that entered, like many others, due to the ongoing pandemic. And as such, we had to be “imaginative” about how we would not only present the project but in my case, how we would make this video without being able to leave the house. I had the day before the pandemic in which I captured a lot of material and another in August 2020 when I captured the interviews with the proper safety distances! – The Project can be seen here
Once again I enter these projects in a very simple and documentary way; camera, gimbal, microphones and headphones. The challenge was simple, making a 10-minute video on the topic in question. Little would we know that we were going to face a pandemic and that this would require extra gymnastics to complete the video. I try to be as discreet as possible so as not to interfere in the process. Being aware of what is said and what happens is crucial to being able to tell a story. Maybe because I already worked with the Foundation, there would be a confidence in my work, so they left the creative process on my side. Which makes me very motivated to go out and get it. Susana, Andreia and Ursula together with Francisca, still parachuting in on the project, helped me a lot with the interviews and to create a possible script that would serve as a skeleton for the video I’ve imagined. Of course without anyone foreseeing it, the pandemic made us radically change the project and also the video. We took advantage of the best of technology and managed to do programming entirely online through zoom platforms. It was very good and challenging to create content in this way. I quickly realized that I would need to capture the largest number of interviews, with the aggravating factor that I would have to take all precautions with regard to distances. In this case, the biggest challenge was to capture audio without using lav mics . To this end, I counted on Bruno Olivera’s help in filming and assisting me in capturing them. The project’s time-line was huge, perhaps the most complex I’ve had so far. The music was in charge of the talented Fernando Frias, an incredible musician who you should know his work. He produced the video’s sound track and I also had Adelaide Richardson who did an incredible job translating all this work into English.
